London Grade Coffee started to ensure that people never have to drink bad coffee again, while also tackling some of the issues the industry presents. Their coffee, which grows high in the Nilgiri Hills, under a double canopy of silver oak, rosewood, jackfruit, mahogany, and avocado trees, is not only delicious but doesn't come at the expense of the planet and its biodiversity.
The 30 acres of hillside remain entirely unfenced so that elephant and Indian bison are free to roam the land. Here three generations of the Mariwala family have grown coffee, on hillsides in the lee of the Western Ghats, where the cool temperatures and light monsoon help give the coffee sweetness and depth of flavour. They deal with the Mariwala family directly and pay them price they need to keep producing exceptional coffee beans, leaving them proud that their beans can be sampled in homes and cafes across Europe.
