New faces of Gala Dalí, by Carla Fuentes

Using the façades of the Village as a canvas, the painter Carla Fuentes portrays an imaginary Gala Dalí. Through her eyes, the muse reappears as a powerful and influential woman who keeps inspiring new generations.

Gala was an innovative, audacious woman, a chiseller of dreams. But what would the myth be like today? Would she show her face on social media? Would she use surrealist filters? Explore the Village to immerse yourself in the dreamlike universe of Gala Dalí and discover the fascinating collaboration between La Roca Village and the Valencian artist Carla Fuentes, in an unprecedented initiative that revisits the muse's legacy (and identity). A free interpretation in which Carla portrays an imaginary Gala, in scenes of today's world, taking a selfie with Dalí in a lift or sunbathing on the beach, dressed in customised pieces from her personal fashion collection.

“I approached the project as a challenge, both professionally and personally. I was familiar with the figure of Gala, but always in the shadow of Dalí,” says Carla. Curiously, in the history of art, Gala's identity has been constructed through the eyes of others, mostly men: Dalí, Man Ray, Brassaï, Cecil Beaton, Horst P. Horst... Carla's illustrations are an invitation to turn the discourse around, with a feminine gaze and in contemporary language. Her work is a tribute to all those invisible faces of Gala. “I find all the muse's faces interesting: her approach to fashion, her more intellectual side, her passion for reading...”
