Patrick McDowell has made an art form out of turning previous-season pieces into glamorous new collections. In fact, the Central Saint Martins graduate has reinvented the role of designer as we know it, by collaborating with the best of the business to reimagine past favourites as circular fashion that lasts forever.
This London-based designer works in limited quantities, producing only what’s necessary, close to his East London studio. Plus, in his efforts towards building a greener fashion industry, Patrick hosted London Fashion Week’s first ever ‘Swap Shop’, where attendees could exchange parts of their outfit for pieces donated by members of the British Fashion Council.
Juxtaposing the hyper-masculine with the glamour associated with his home town of Liverpool, Patrick has transformed everything from Burberry’s off-cut materials to Swarovski crystals. For this latest collection, available via The Virtual Creative Spot, Patrick worked with Katharine Hamnett – renowned for her statement T-shirts – to reimagine classic denim jackets using her signature slogans.
