Since its founding more than 150 years ago in Tokyo, the cosmetics firm has maintained a unique philosophy that combines Eastern wisdom with Western science. From its beginnings as a pharmacy, its creator Arinobu Fukuhara's search for well-being led him to create innovative products: he introduced toothpaste to Japan, broke the rules of the cosmetics industry with the first red skin lotion in a clear bottle, launched face powders in different colours to suit individual skin tones and even founded the first fashion magazine in Japan.
