Built for the bold | Spring into outdoor adventure with Timberland

This spring, we’re leaping into the great outdoors – putting our best foot forward – and pursuing adventure across Europe.

Built for the bold. That’s been the message behind Timberland’s outdoor, adventure-ready designs, which started with their original Yellow Boot back in 1973.

To celebrate this feat of recognisable craftsmanship – and the iconic design’s fiftieth anniversary – we’ve teamed up with Timberland to find some of Europe’s best outdoor parks, green spaces and adventure centres ready for you to explore this spring.

01

Alternative sightseeing: Dublin, Ireland

Less white-water and more sightseeing, but good fun nonetheless – discover a new angle on the classic city tour of Dublin (under an hour’s drive from Kildare Village) with a kayak trip along the River Liffey in Dublin.

Setting off from the city’s moorings, City Kayaking will steer you under famous bridges as you traverse a two-hour course, giving you the chance to enjoy the city’s best sights and bank a decent workout whilst you’re at it.

02

Late-night exploration: Paris, France

Thrill-seekers unite: here’s your chance to discover the ‘city of light’ as you’ve never seen it before. Sign up to a Pari Roller cruise around the city for an exhilarating night tour of its most well-known streets and landmarks.

Setting off at 9.30 pm every Friday in Montparnasse (under an hour’s drive from La Vallée Village), you’ll begin on the quieter streets to build up your confidence before circling the city’s main promenades into the early hours.

03

Trekking through the trees: Maasmechelen, Belgium

A stone’s throw from Maasmechelen Village, the treetop bridges of the Kruinenpad serve spectacular views across the lush, expansive greenery of the Limburg region.

Setting off from the banks of the Zuid-Willemsvaart, enjoy a ‘high-level’ experience as you wander through 181 metres of stunning treetop greenery. Coming eye-level with the best of the region’s birds and insects, it’s the perfect outdoor expedition for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

04

Plant lovers’ paradise: Munich, Germany

If the thought of journeying across an arid desert followed by a hike through a tropical evergreen forest sounds like your perfect outing, then a trip to the Munich Botanical Garden, an hour from Ingolstadt Village, will surely satisfy.

Covering more than 21 hectares, with extensive glasshouses, an arboretum and thousands of rare and ancient plant species, a single visit offers a glimpse of the breath-taking scope of nature – ideal for dedicated plant enthusiasts.

05

Hiking at height: Madrid, Spain

Just an hour from bustling Madrid – and only 45 minutes from Las Rozas Village – is the magnificent, mountainous Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

Covering almost 34,000 hectares and reaching an altitude of 2,428 metres, experienced walkers will want to try the hundreds of kilometres of paths that give way to the park’s most impressive sights. Meanwhile, impromptu visitors will find the park’s themed routes the perfect place to start.

06

Maze hunting: Barcelona, Spain

To truly escape the bustle of city life, you can’t miss the chance to literally lose yourself. So, visit Barcelona’s oldest conserved garden, the Parc del Laberint d'Horta – home to a beautifully preserved, neo-classical labyrinth.

Situated just 30 minutes from La Roca Village, intrepid explorers can navigate more than 600 metres of maze to discover a statue of the Greek god, Eros. Meanwhile, the rest of the garden is bursting with treasures: pavilions, temples, topiaries, a waterfall and forested areas, just waiting to be explored.

07

Cliff climbing: Emilia Romagna, Italy

With its mountainous border, the Emilia-Romagna region – home to our very own Fidenza Village – is quite the draw for adventure seekers.

The soaring cliffs of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park and its anvil-shaped Pietra di Bismantova are some of the most challenging and famous rock formations. There, the adventurous climber can choose from roughly 250 different routes up its sides – a pretty extensive ‘rock gym’, if ever there was one.

08

A walk through history: Woodstock, England

Home to rolling hills, sight-seeing bridges and vast lakes – and just a 25 minute drive from Bicester Village – UNESCO World Heritage site Blenheim Palace is filled with countless beauty spots to enjoy this spring.

There’s the exquisitely ornate manor house at its centre, surrounded by more than 2,000 acres of historic parkland. Across this, you’ll also find Woodstock Gate – regarded as one of the most striking views in England – and the verdant banks of Queen Pool lake.

09

Aerial adventures: Wertheim, Germany

Make the most of the famously lush Franconian forests with an adventure high in the trees at Kletterpark Silvestria – perfect for families and Robin Hood-enthusiasts alike.

Neighbouring Wertheim Village, the climbing park has eight courses designed to test your skills in rope swinging, navigating aerial walkways and scaling tree ladders. Those less keen on heights can enjoy other activities, as the park also teaches archery for the full forest experience.
