The art of yoga with Verónica Blume
A haven of sophisticated tranquillity, our private spaces are set to host Veronica Blume’s restorative yoga series, where mindful meditation fuses with fashion and five-star hospitality. We joined the model and wellness influencer to discuss her journey…
By La Roca Village
“Did you know that Blume means ‘flower’ in German?” Veronica Blume muses, sitting in one of the Personal Shopping Suites at La Roca Village. A name long associated with the world of fashion, Blume rose to fame in the ‘90s alongside a roster of iconic supermodels; Judith Mascó, Nieves Álvarez, Laura Ponte, Ester Cañadas, Martina Klein and Eugenia Silva, to name a few. Now, at 47 years old and with a life beyond the runway, Blume’s influence continues to thrive.
After turning to yoga as part of her journey to personal growth, Blume has firmly established herself in the wellness industry, gaining a deep understanding of the transformative power of self-discovery – an expertise she’ll be sharing exclusively with our Private Clients. Through a curated series of reflective experiences, including an educational session on her meditation journey (22 April) and guided yoga classes (8 April, 8 and 22 May), Blume will help you reconnect with your true self and restore a sense of profound tranquillity.

Ahead of her takeover, we sat down with Blume to find out more about her transformative journey from fashion to wellness.
What has the practice and philosophy of yoga taught you?
“It’s a never-ending learning process. It’s taught me to listen to myself, to respect myself, to lead life from a more conscious, more humble perspective and always with a lot of gratitude.”
When did you start meditating? “Yoga is a form of meditation in movement. But the constant practice of still meditation came into my life about 10 years ago – I feel it’s the most transformative practice.”

How does meditation help you better know yourself and tackle daily stressors? “For me, meditation shouldn’t be an aspiration to go ‘blank.’ It’s a way to be with myself despite the noise, to allow myself to feel what needs to be felt and to realise that I’m not a victim of my environment. But that I have the opportunity to act from inner coherence, to be true to myself and to know the path that leads me to a place of calm – even if the reality surrounding that isn’t so.”
Three habits that improve your daily life? “Yoga, walks in nature and meditation.”

After decades in the spotlight as a model, you now see and reflect on life differently, allowing you to know yourself better and improve decision-making. What’s that personal journey been like?
“Very intense! I started modelling when I was 15 and my way of being led me to identify with an image that I assumed was expected of me. Dismantling the hiding place that my social role had become has been and still is a process – a path that’s walked slowly – but in which acceptance and freedom are a pivotal pillar.”

What’s one lesson the catwalk taught you?
“Working as a model is fun and intense but wonderful. Modelling, on the other hand, is exhausting for me. I may work as a model, but modelling is not my responsibility.”
How do you experience fashion today? “I love people who are risk-takers and who use fashion as a form of expression. I know the work behind it and I am fascinated by the creative process. Personally, I think I’m pretty neutral in the way I dress. Comfort seems more important to me than looks or trends. If I don't feel myself, I don't feel comfortable.”

“Leggings and a loose tank top; pyjamas in the morning; and one day, (hopefully) in a dress. I've always said that ‘when I grow up,’ I’d teach a class wearing a nice dress. Leggings are undoubtedly the most comfortable, but I'm not always comfortable in tight clothes.”
The way we talk about beauty is slowly changing. Where are you now with your body? And how would you like to embrace ageing?
“I'm in a very beautiful moment of my life. I'm 47 and things are starting to change. I like being older. It teaches me to accept myself, to value every wrinkle and laugh a little more at myself. Age teaches me to be much more considerate, to know my rhythms and to listen to them, even if they don't always fit in with the rhythms of others.”
