The art of pleating
Inspired by Ancient Greece, Mariano Fortuny created the pleating technique at the beginning of the twentieth century for his iconic Delphos dress. Its legacy – along with the heritage of Japanese origami – led Issey Miyake to do the same with his Pleats Please collection. This influenced Stella McCartney's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection and so on, right up to this architectural piece by Adolfo Domínguez.
