Exit the Village and step directly into the national park, home to more than 12,000 hectares of natural beauty. Opt for the park’s most well-known gateway, Terhills, or discover the stars and planets at Kattevennen, Genk. Start at As Station to explore the old coal railway, or walk amongst the flowers and bees from Lieteberg, Zutendaal. For a historical route, head for Pietersheim, Lanaken, or see the purple heather in all its splendour from Mechelse Heide, Maasmechelen. Plus – good news for avid explorers – there are three new gateways coming soon.
