Your style, your game: talent and creativity in fashion, sports and art
Discover a canvas of creativity at La Roca Village. This year, artists Sejal Parekh and Óscar Lorenzo present an artistic proposal that brings together fashion, art and sports for a unique experience.
By La Roca Village
For more than 25 years, La Roca Village, part of The Bicester Collection, has celebrated creativity in all its forms. Fashion and art come together to create unique experiences that drive creative talent in every project.
This year, the Village will act as a canvas for the creative expression of artists Sejal Parekh and Óscar Lorenzo. A dialogue between the multidisciplinary artist – whose work explores themes such as resilience and strength – and the graphic artist – who experiments with typography to craft a contemporary discourse with delicate, urban nuance.
Sejal Parekh
Sejal Parekh’s work – created between London and Barcelona and exhibited at MACBA, SWAB Art Fair, FlagLab Barcelona and London’s Stone Space Gallery – predominantly takes the form of site-specific sculpture, video and sound. Her work explores rituals, routines and identity through the beauty of the everyday.
For her installations at La Roca Village, Sejal has used materials from the world of sport – boxing gauze bandages, synthetic tennis racquet strings and football goal nets – to shape unique, large-scale sculptures that reflect on resilience and identity, concepts common to both fashion and sport.
For Sejal, "the catwalk, like the Olympic stadium, celebrates self-confidence." Wearing a powerful garment can instil as much confidence as crossing the finish line or winning a medal. Wander through the Village’s boulevards and boutiques to discover how Sejal Parekh transforms the popular sporting imagination into an artistic experience that challenges today’s dominant narrative.
This cascading, sculptural piece by artist Sejal Parekh expresses the multiplicities and tensions that exist within each of us, using contrasting materials: silk, wire mesh, hoops and racquet strings.
In this sculpture, artist Sejal Parekh delves into the search for inner confidence. The installation takes the shape of a portal, made from a semi-translucent, highly sensory material that evokes the texture of skin.
The punching bag acts as a metaphor. Constructed from gauze bandages and wire mesh, this artistic installation by Sejal Parekh explores the idea that resilience is linked to adaptability, rather than sheer toughness.
Artist reinventing the punching bag, Sejal Parekh has transformed it into a large-scale artistic installation woven with badminton and football nets.
Óscar Lorenzo
Using the Village façades as his canvas, Óscar has experimented with typography to create a contemporary discourse with delicate, urban nuance. Among the artist’s hand-painted messages by are phrases such as "Fashion makes you stronger", "Choose your style; be unstoppable" and "With style and strength, there are no limits".
