Our wardrobe thrives on investment pieces, which are luxurious, fine, special items of clothing or accessories that significantly enhance our closet. A fantastic black cashmere sweater, extravagant WOW sandals, the bag with the famous brand logo ... As the name says: investment pieces are investments. Not "expensive". Expensive is a 10 euro T-shirt, that you don't wear. An investment piece pays for itself via cost per wear.

Quality is the most important selling point of all. If the quality is right, the garment, shoe or bag is sustainable and can be worn for years. Personally, I have acquired a good level of expertise in my many years as a fashion journalist; I can feel and recognize quality as soon as I touch it. Zippers, buttons, seams say so much. And of course the material. And it's the same with food, drink and hotels. True luxury has a different price than the ordinary.

There is no such thing as timeless fashion. Every 10 years at the latest, silhouettes, lengths, widths and colors change so much that even the best clothes look old-fashioned. Not timeless, but classic is the solution for sustainability. All-time favorites such as the little black dress, trench coat, loafers, white T-shirt and pearl necklace are now back in fashion - and will remain so for a long time to come.

Detoxing makes you healthy and happy. This also applies to your closet. Clean out, breathe out. We all know the uplifting feeling when we've finally emptied the sock drawer or got rid of the mountains of jeans from the 90s. Anything we haven't worn for a year, we won't wear again, it can go. That's the rule of thumb. Personally, I completely muck out every 2 years - actually too rarely!
