Fortela was born from the world and personal vision of Alessandro Squarzi: years of research, travel, vintage, motors, workwear and Italian tailoring.
Rather than following fashion, Fortela has built its own way of dressing, made of authentic pieces designed to become even better with time. The wardrobe lives at the crossroads of different worlds: Japanese denim, Italian tailoring, American military and workwear, knitwear, outerwear and accessories.
No single influence dominates the others; different languages come together to shape Fortela’s identity. Production follows the same philosophy. Fortela works mainly between Italy and Japan, choosing manufacturers, materials and techniques for their authenticity and their ability to create garments that are made to last and gain character over time.
