“There’s no point grabbing a bargain if it’s just going to sit in your wardrobe,” says Laura. “For me, you can’t go wrong with a black blazer – you can dress it up or down. Everybody needs a good leather jacket and a little black dress – A-line dresses are very in at the moment.”
“And a good quality, reliable bag is essential,” adds Guga.
“People have such a specific perception of themselves, but often it’s a stranger’s opinion that highlights whether a piece works or not. Feelings can’t be bought, so finding a piece that attracts lots of compliments can really transform how you feel – always ask for feedback!” says Laura.
“Fashion is such a strong way of expressing yourself so we’ll nurture what makes our guests unique – even pushing them out of their comfort zones and steering them towards an eye-catching colour or design.”

Don’t get distracted
“We tell our clients to shop smarter and opt for pieces they need rather than just want – it’s very easy to be distracted by small, inexpensive items,” says Guga.
“I remember this particular lilac dress, it was encrusted with Swarovski crystals and I absolutely loved it. When it was further reduced, I tried to justify buying it – but I had nowhere to wear it to and I had nothing to wear with it,” says Laura. “That’s where people get stuck – on the savings rather than on what works for their wardrobe.”
Enlist an expert
“We’ll have a session where we run through a client’s wish list: what are they looking for, which event are they going to, how are they going to style it? That way they avoid buying for the sake of buying,” says Guga. “We’re like a data bank for the Village – we spot new arrivals and can check sizes for guests before they come in."
“Our guests are at an advantage because we’re always browsing the boutiques, preselecting the most amazing pieces for them. We’ll also ask the boutique assistants if there are any additional offers they can do – never be afraid to ask!"
