"A few weeks ago, Maasmechelen Village asked me if I wanted to do a Village takeover that would start around Valentine's Day and continue for a while afterwards. The theme was love and newness: a perfect fit for me and my work. After the initial briefing, I was given the freedom to come up with my own ideas. That made it extra interesting for me, and it got me excited to start sketching right away!"

"A big part of my inspiration came from the name of the campaign: 'Find your newfound love'. For me, it’s all about love and excitement. Apart from that, I wanted to highlight what Maasmechelen Village stands for, and refer to the unique atmosphere on the shopping boulevard. New boutiques are opening every month, the new arrivals are in, new menus are available in the restaurants, ... There is always something new to discover."

"I always start my creative process with a sketching phase. It gives me the space to draw for a while without having to create the final result right away. For example, I initially tried to capture love in one image. But that felt like an impossible thing to do. Love exists in so many forms... Plus: because I know Maasmechelen Village well, I know it's a very welcoming place. That's why I created a series of images that celebrate all kinds of love: from self-love to love for a pet or love between two people."
